lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of Mr Scurria’s report on cross-border voluntary activities in the EU. Following the visibility acquired through the European Year of Volunteering, it is appropriate to focus on specific measures to further promote volunteering. The ‘European Voluntary Humanitarian Aid Corps’ will train people engaged principally in cross-border volunteering. Its creation will make an invaluable and much-needed contribution to society, demonstrating the need to build a Europe based on respect for fundamental rights and the creation of solidarity and welfare, not just within national borders and not just in economic terms. In a constantly changing society such as that in Europe, enhancing solidarity is an asset. It enables us to address and overcome human, social, intergenerational and environmental needs and concerns. Today, the EU has 100 million volunteers who are helping to make Europe and the world a better place, and I am certain that this number is set to rise substantially."@en1
