According to the terms of the Treaty of Lisbon, our objective is to promote sustainable economic and social development. It is crucial to disseminate our democratic values throughout the world. Latin America comprises middle income countries which have achieved notable successes in reducing poverty and inequality through economic growth and political and social reforms. Therefore, although there is still much work to be done in relation to malnutrition, food safety, poverty, life expectancy, and so on, we must expand our fields of cooperation. The average growth rate of these countries is too high for us to overlook them. Europe must take account of these new economic models."@en1
