"The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) is used to improve the chances of European companies in difficulty or to incentivise their development towards balance in the European market. This application, for which I expressed my favourable vote, concerns 876 redundancies among 146 enterprises operating in the footwear industry in Comunidad Valenciana, for which a total amount of EUR 1 631 565 has been requested. The application has already received the Commission’s official endorsement, and one of its criteria for assessment is the link between the redundancies and the changes brought about by the financial crisis. Spain has classified these redundancies as the result of the reduction in the trade in footwear due to the domination of China and India."@en1
