"Although the stated objective of this report is positive, it approaches environmental problems in a market-oriented way. We disagree with the creation of a ‘strong common agenda’ between the public and private sectors, as this is aimed at nothing more than opening the door to processes for liberalising the waste market, with the privatisation of waste collection and management. The overriding idea is that citizens are to be made accountable for their choice of products. What is really needed is to change the current modes of production and consumption inherent to the capitalist system, which exploits the environment and its resources for the benefit of the few."@en1
