lpv:translated text	"Mr President, I would like to begin by thanking Mr Gerbrandy for a good report. As the rapporteur for the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, I want to emphasise that promoting the sustainable use of resources does not run counter to moves to strengthen the EU’s industrial competitiveness, but, in fact, is a requirement for this to happen. We need innovative business models, research and innovation, a market for the reuse of resources, an extended Ecodesign Directive and faster implementation of the Waste Framework Directive. In the statement from the industry committee, we also discussed the fact that we need to develop and strengthen the different types of interaction between the Member States and the EU. In our opinion, this can only be achieved by means of clear, measurable and verifiable goals, indicators and measures, including specific objectives and concrete legislative initiatives, supported by the necessary financing mechanisms. This is also an important issue in this context."@en1
