"I voted in favour of this resolution since I believe that the European Union must boost the protection of bluefin tuna, an extremely important predator for the preservation of the ecosystem in the Mediterranean Sea. We must immediately consolidate the recovery plan for bluefin tuna in the Mediterranean, including by meeting the EU’s objectives in advance. Spawning areas in international waters could also be declared ‘closed areas’, enabling fishing to be banned during the spawning season."@en1
