"This report analyses and assesses what has been done in relation to male-female equality in Turkey. It also suggests a strategy to be followed with regard
to the inequalities existing between men and women in that country; to violence between men and women; to women’s problems accessing education; to the creation of shelters for women suffering domestic violence; to improving pre-natal care and institutions, as well as care and institutions for older people; and to data on the situation of women in Turkey. Proposals by our group on the situation of Kurdish women, of women in rural areas, of unemployed women and of women living in poverty have been included amongst the commitments, which we are pleased about. We are also pleased about the paragraph that ‘calls on Turkey to fulfil all its obligations stemming from the EC-Turkey association agreement and its additional protocol, which it has still not implemented for the sixth consecutive year’ because of its implications for the Cypriot problem. We voted for this report for these reasons."@en1
