"The European Commission has tabled a draft amendment to Regulation (EC) No 975/98 of 3 May 1998 on denominations and technical specifications of euro coins intended for circulation. Since euro coins circulate throughout the euro area, the design characteristics of the national sides constitute an issue of common interest. I am voting for this report, which aims to reduce the number of commemorative coins, with the intention of thereby simplifying administrative procedures and increasing their value even further. I also believe the European Commission should inform the Member States and the European Central Bank of the conclusions it reaches."@en1
