Meanwhile, the Commission is urged to take decisive action in order to recover more erroneous payments, to hold Member States more accountable for the amount in irregularities that have yet to be recovered, to improve the prevention and detection of irregularities and cases of fraud, and to immediately suspend payments and apply effective sanctions in cases of misuse of EU funds.
