"While tax fraud and tax evasion are serious topics, the collection and regulation of revenue collection is the final preserve of a sovereign state. More often than not tax evasion occurs through third country accounts, such as those based in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, and it is up to individual member states to choose how they wish to control and penalise evasion and fraud through the exchange of information which has become a global standard undermining bank secrecy. It is not up to the EU as a supra national body to interfere in such fiscal matters."@en1
