lpv:translated text	". I voted for the conclusion of this agreement because I think that it will help encourage trade on the EU market and improve forest governance. I welcome that these Voluntary Partnership Agreements will increase transparency, strengthen civil society participation and stop illegal logging. I would like to mention that around 45% of Liberia’s land area is covered by forest. The country also hosts more than half of West Africa’s remaining rain forests. I welcome the efforts aimed at making the forestry sector sustainable and accountable, as well as the direct involvement of civil society, industry and the communities living in the forest. I think that the Voluntary Partnership Agreement with Liberia will make a positive contribution to development and economic growth in this country, while helping tackle forest degradation which has repercussions for climate change."@en1
