"The African continent is a very poor region. Many people there suffer from poverty, whilst hunger and disease can be seen at every step. However, Africa is also a region with very rich natural resources and rational management of these resources could improve the situation of its population. In the Central African Republic, 31% of the land is covered by tropical forests. People living in that country are largely dependent on those forests and forestry is the principal source of employment in the private sector. I believe that the most important issues in the area of forestry should be subject to regulation and products from wood that enter European Union markets should come from legitimate sources. Proper monitoring of the procedure for bringing goods onto the market is essential. It is also worth looking at the national market, which was excluded from this agreement."@en1
