"Mr President, firstly, I would like to say to the questioner that the countries she mentions only have no problems on the surface. If you actually read the data on the Netherlands, you will see that growth is in decline there too. When Germans read the statistics, they actually know very well that they are very dependent on them. Things may appear to be going better again in the south, but this is only fleeting. On no account should we think that Germany can maintain its export rates in the long term without a functioning euro area. So my answer is yes; we need to arrive at a constellation in which demand in southern Europe is also boosted again. We need to create new jobs and sensible investment projects, and we need to use all the means at our disposal to ensure that we are not organising a recession that lasts 10 or 20 years."@en1
