The Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia is principally intended to promote cooperation and development between the Association of Southeast Nations (ASEAN countries) and third countries acceding to the treaty. I believe it is very important that Parliament has succeeded in speeding up the bureaucratic procedures for the approval of the text so as to allow for accession to the treaty as quickly as possible.
