"Madam President, I voted for this report because the negotiation of the association agreement provides us with the opportunity to develop relations with Armenia based on the commitment to democratic values. I, too, stress the need for the parliamentary elections on 6 May to be free, fair and transparent. I am confident that the authorities in Yerevan will make every effort necessary to achieve this. The Nagorno-Karabakh conflict needs to be resolved to ensure the security of Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as of the whole region. In fact, the EU must be more involved in settling unresolved conflicts. I should mention that the Black Sea Rotational Force exercise is going on at the moment, involving soldiers from several countries, including the US, Romania, Armenia and Azerbaijan. Its aim is to increase the level of interoperability. However, it also offers a means of increasing trust between the Caucasus states."@en1
