lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Azerbaijan has come a long way in its 20 years of independence. The country has developed a strong and sustainable economy and it has successfully used the revenue from energy projects to diversify various economic sectors and to continually upgrade its infrastructure. Choosing European integration as a path for the future is yet another positive sign. The EU is, and must be, prepared to help Azerbaijan with its political and socio-economic reforms. However, it is disappointing that the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan has still not been resolved and that we are not seeing any progress in the negotiation process. Aggression, occupation and ethnic cleansing are concepts that run counter to our European values and principles, and they must never be tolerated. Even here in this Chamber, and on all sides of the debate, I hear people asking why the EU is continuing to demand the withdrawal of the occupying forces. However, if we withdraw this demand, we will have nothing to negotiate on. I was born in the Balkans. I have experienced war, occupation and ethnic cleansing. I would maintain that we should never enter into negotiations with occupying forces. The occupying forces must first be withdrawn and then we can talk about a possible referendum and possible ways to reunite people, reconstruct the country and restore trust in the region. However, as long as we tolerate what is not right, the end result will also be wrong."@en1
