The corporate sector should be able to take social, ethical and environmental concerns into account in its practices, and to demonstrate its responsibilities both towards employees and shareholders, and towards society at large, in addition to ensuring better economic performance and the creation of decent jobs. However, I consider it imprudent for a report this important to make a covert attempt to approve the adoption of women’s quotas on corporate boards. I therefore voted against this draft amendment.
