Four years after its democratic declaration of independence, 85 countries in the world have recognised Kosovo as an independent country. Of these countries, 22 belong to the EU, but five still refuse to recognise it. One of these is Spain. Spain, one of the biggest Member States, shows a democratic deficit in not recognising this reality. I hope that the EU forces Spain to address this situation in the coming months and years.
