"The use of new information systems for monitoring products subject to excise duty required the amendment of Regulation (EC) No 2073/2004. I therefore voted in favour of the Casa report. I have always supported proposals which aim to encourage the exchange of information between Member States. It is an essential precondition for creating budgetary union. The fight against tax evasion and fraud, as well as measures relating to VAT, should be subject to a common approach. I note the request to the Commission for a report on fraud in the field of excise duties."@en1
