lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, congratulations on the announcement that the Commission has at last succeeded in adopting measures enabling the available budget to be used to help the people in greatest need. At this time of widespread economic crisis, when the European Union is making significant sums available for various kinds of support in countries outside its borders, the European public would find it incomprehensible if the EUR 500 million needed to maintain the programme in 2012 and 2013 were not guaranteed. I am concerned, however, that this aid will last for only a limited period, since it is not guaranteed that the programme will continue beyond 2013. I appeal to my fellow Members from those Member States that have advocated that aid to food banks should be provided by individual countries to persuade their governments to support the poorest in society and to promote fairness, primarily within the geographical, economic and political space that we share, where we should demonstrate greater social solidarity."@en1
