Building a single market at EU level was not and is not possible without the existence of powerful companies and without adequate development on their part, depending on the economic environment, which is very dynamic at European and international level. To keep pace with this dynamic evolution, Europe needs to adapt its legislative framework to the needs of companies in order to provide adequate protection at European level for shareholders, creditors and all partners who are affected by the activity of companies. In a Europe without internal borders, the appropriate harmonisation of national laws and structures of companies in Member States is vital for European citizens to be able to benefit from all services and products offered by companies, especially regarding cross-border trade, but also in terms of corporate social responsibility and the role of companies in innovation and economic growth."@en1
