Due to the obesity epidemic, the ageing European population and other factors not yet determined, the number of diabetics living in Europe is expected to rise by 16.6% by 2030. The adopted resolution, which I supported, calls for the introduction of a European strategy for diabetes, addressing, among other things, the collection and assessment of epidemiological data, coordination of European research and educational prevention campaigns aimed at early diagnosis. I consider all of these activities an essential foundation for the fight against this disease."@en1
