lpv:translated text	"I voted in favour of the joint motion for a resolution on diabetes because it is important for us to raise awareness of one of the most widespread, chronic health problems that currently affects 32 million people in Europe. We need to tackle this problem by means of more knowledge, education, research and prevention. Health issues should preferably be dealt with at national level, but it is also a matter of increasing awareness of the consequences of diabetes throughout the EU. It is therefore important to improve cooperation between the Member States and encourage the creation of a strategy for diabetes in order to find more effective solutions for a disease that does not recognise borders. I particularly welcome the fact that the Danish Presidency has prioritised this issue."@en1
