"Mr President, I am pleased that we have succeeded in taking the discussions with Iceland in a very positive direction. We have made significant progress and have identified joint opportunities for the future, in particular, in the field of energy. Geothermal energy, which I believe is more widespread in Iceland than anywhere else in the world, has excellent export potential and will therefore bring a great deal of revenue into the country. However, Iceland is also heavily involved in tidal power plants and in osmotic power plants, in which electricity is generated from the chemical reaction that takes place when freshwater from a river meets the saltwater in the sea. Iceland is in the position to develop a completely new industry and a promising future for itself. I believe that we have important joint opportunities in this area to create new prosperity for Iceland."@en1
