"Mr President, Mr Cioloş, Ms Quisthoudt-Rowohl, I believe we can say that European foreign trade policy has always been one of the major successes of the European Union. Why is this? Because it is under the sole authority of the European Union and this allows a targeted approach to be taken. As a result of the Treaty of Lisbon, for the first time, the European Parliament is playing an equal role in the legislative process. I am assuming that our foreign trade policy may become even more successful because of this. Of course, the process of incorporating the old procedures into the new system is incredibly complex. I believe that, with the Commission proposal on Omnibus I and Omnibus II and the excellent work done by the rapporteur on these issues, we have succeeded in finding a system in which we have great confidence, which also gives us controls and which enables the Commission to take successful action, so that we hopefully, and I am saying this quite deliberately, do not repeat our experiences with the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement (ACTA)."@en1
