Accurate, relevant and high-quality statistics are essential for assessing our demographics or analysing the data relating to our economy. They are necessary at European, national and even regional level because they can influence political decision making. If we prepare statistics using more uniform, more accurate and more reliable methods, the EU’s policies will be in a better position to react to the economic, social or even environmental realities of our everyday lives. I am therefore in favour of the enforcement of the European Statistics Code of Practice."@en1
