"I have always been in favour of greater cooperation at European level. Therefore, I naturally approved this agreement, which enables us to improve judicial cooperation on criminal matters between the Member States and extends this to the Republic of Iceland and the Kingdom of Norway. Due to the trans-border nature of crime today, it seems to me imperative that we ensure that the different competent national authorities for legal and criminal matters can actively work hand in hand. The same is true of the effectiveness of our justice system. I am also pleased to see that this agreement strengthens Eurojust, the European Union’s judicial cooperation unit, created in 2002."@en1
