"I voted for this report as I deplore the veto by Russia and China of the UN Security Council resolution on Syria, thus voting against the proposal for peaceful transition put forward by the Arab League. Given the escalating violence in Syria, it is unacceptable that Russia, its main arms supplier, should continue to export arms there. Baroness Ashton should redouble her diplomatic efforts to secure the support of China and Russia for the important UN resolution, so that it will be possible to end the violent repression being carried out by the Syrian Government."@en1
