The regulation which has been adopted today puts dairy farmers in a stronger position in their negotiations with their customers. It allows them to join together in associations to negotiate prices in order to obtain better raw milk prices without coming into conflict with competition law. Prices can be negotiated and agreed on within an acceptable framework and the Member States have sufficient discretionary powers. At the same time, support is being provided for the production of quality regional cheeses."@en¹
