We are seeing the emergence of transnational groups as a result of company restructuring, mergers and divisions. Against this background the importance of having access to information on companies operating transnationally is obvious. As it is not always easy to obtain this information at present, the current legislative resolution is an important step towards greater integration of the European Economic Area. I therefore voted in favour of the current bill, and I also believe that the system of linking central, commercial and company registers should specify what data are needed for the central platform to function correctly, and that care should be taken when making such data available, and it should not be made directly available to the public."@en1
