"I voted in favour of the report on women’s situation in war because I think gender equality is an essential element of the equality and freedom of us all. Furthermore, just as in politics and in business, we are seeking to promote the central role of women in international conflict situations. The aim is to see women have a role in the upper echelons of conflict resolution diplomacy, civil assistance for the needy and social reconstruction. We are also working towards a plan for appointing a Special EU Representative for Women, Peace and Security."@en1
