According to several studies on gender-based violence, roughly 20-25% of women in Europe have been physically abused at least once, and 26% of children and teenagers stated that they had been victims of physical violence during childhood. However, most times, the victims of physical or verbal aggression are not bold enough to confirm this openly, which makes it difficult to compile relevant statistics. This is why I think that it is of paramount importance for us to provide adequate funding to the Daphne programme, used with the aim of preventing and tackling violence against women, as well as against children and young people."@en1
