As the title of the report clearly indicates, unfair imbalances continue to exist in the food supply chain. A large number of the problems that farmers are experiencing are the result of highly punitive behaviour imposed by modern distributors. I am referring, in particular, to abusive buying practices on the part of dominant wholesalers and retailers. Only with the political will to implement the solutions previously tabled by Parliament will farmers and consumers no longer be penalised, as much of the legislation in force needs to be properly implemented."@en1
