lpv:translated text	"In the light of previous disagreements with the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) because of the confrontation between the European Union and airlines opposed to the inclusion of air transport in the European Union Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) from 1 January 2012, I think it is necessary for the EU to collaborate with the international community. An international agreement enabling the greenhouse gas emissions of air transport to be taken into account is crucial. I therefore voted for this Memorandum of Cooperation, so that the European Union can use its expertise and resources generally for the benefit of the ICAO. It is essential that the European Union exerts influence on negotiations with the international community on civil aviation and, in particular, on issues of sustainable development."@en1
