"When British Prime Minister, Winston Churchill, attended the Yalta conference in 1945, he was offered a glass of Georgian brandy. The great man was so impressed by the taste that he mistook the Georgian spirit for a French cognac. I voted for this report because it means that geographical indications such as cognac and Scotch whisky will be protected. Georgian brandies will no longer be able to call themselves cognacs. This will make it easier for consumers to make the right choice. Now the only way consumers can be misled is if – like Mr Churchill – they are deceived by the taste of the product."@en1
