I believe that it is inappropriate and pointless to subject third-country citizens who already hold a visa or residence permit to repeated identity checks because, at the time of the initial check, it was already confirmed that they do not present a risk of illegal immigration. Moreover, in order to ensure legal certainty and transparency, as well as the application of effective provisions on the airport transit visa (ATV), exemptions from the ATV requirement must be set out in a clear and unambiguous manner and applied in accordance with strict requirements. It is also very important to stress that the new provisions of this regulation will bring benefits not just to individual travellers and airlines, but also to the Member States, as they will reduce the administrative burden."@en1
