lpv:translated text	"Mr President, Commissioner, I welcome the agreement reached in Durban, where the EU was the major player, and I would take this opportunity to congratulate you on how you conducted the work, Commissioner. The EU proposed a roadmap to a comprehensive agreement that would replace the Kyoto Protocol. The agreement, known as the Durban Platform, will be negotiated by 2015, to come into force in 2020. A new era started in Durban. For the first time we will have an era of a new multilateralism, in which the commitments of all the industrialised and developing countries will have the same legal value. As it is flexible, the Durban Platform represents an opportunity for the European Union to reconcile combating climate change with economic growth. Decision was also reached in Durban on a second compliance period for the Kyoto Protocol, so as to ensure continuity between the protocol and its successor."@en1
