".
At a time when we are witnessing the entrenchment of the power of the Franco-German directorate, ever more dominated by Germany, in imposing polices on the European Union, the role of the rotating presidencies is fairly limited, and the Danish Presidency is no exception. It is so true that this presidency in no way breaks with the capitalist model of the European Union – as no other has done – that the priorities set out in its programme leave no room for doubt: deepening the internal market; the deregulation and liberalisation of international trade; the ‘stealth’ increase in the retirement age; the support for implementation of the decisions of so-called economic governance, the Euro Plus Pact, and the intergovernmental treaty; and, not to forget, what is called combating terrorism, with all the security measures that this concept entails. This is essentially a presidency that confirms the path of austerity and of withdrawing social, economic and political rights that the European Union has been imposing. Instead, the necessary path of breaking with capitalism in order to combat its crisis involves combating measures that increase exploitation and the accumulation of capital, the promotion of jobs with rights, trade rules based on complementarity rather than competitiveness, and the promotion of social rights."@en1
