Although there is no question but that the European Union should pursue a strategy in relation to Asia, this should mainly be restricted to economic aspects. On the other hand, it is open to question whether the European Union should form an opinion in relation to topics such as climate policy and cultural issues in Asian countries. I believe that the report contains some good elements, particularly in terms of the aforementioned economic analyses, but it does not succeed on an overall level as a result of some rather patronising evaluations.
