"The Council consulted the European Parliament on the appointment of Benoît Coeuré to an eight-year term of office as a member of the Executive Board of the European Central Bank. Since 2009, Mr Coeuré has been Deputy Director-General of the French Treasury, and has extensive experience of economic and financial government. Previously, for instance, he was Head of Multilateral Affairs and Development and Head of the Foreign Exchange Policy and Economic Policy Unit, in both cases for the French Treasury. He has also represented France at the G7 and G8 summits. In view of the vast amount of experience he has in this area, I voted in favour, and hope that his activity will be governed by the guiding principles of Union law and, in this way, will be crowned with success."@en1
