No wonder, as before the most unjust diktat in world history, the tragedy of Trianon, Hungary and Poland were neighbouring countries. With reference to this shared historic legacy, I respectfully ask the Polish Government to do everything within its power in the few days which remain from its term of EU Presidency to ensure that the Hungarians of the Carpathian Basin are free to live out their national identity, and to guarantee especially in Slovakia the free use of the Hungarian language for those Hungarians living in the historic region of Upper Hungary.
