"Mr President, I would like to continue in the vein that Mr El Khadraoui has just outlined, because it is true that everything we have done so far has been insufficient. Neither the embargos nor the sanctions are achieving enough. The Syrian regime is still massacring the populace, and there is no other option than to carry on working to get the army to return to its barracks and to stop people from being massacred. This is why I believe we must continue working on this issue.
However, I would like to reiterate that we must strengthen the democratic opposition. It is true that they are activists, but we should focus on working with the Syrian National Council, regardless of who is in it.
The Syrian National Council is a fairly representative platform, not just outside Syria, but also inside the country.
