"I voted against this report, which lauds ultraliberal dogma: ‘Let us remove all barriers to global trade (we are talking about non-tariff barriers here) and trade will bring prosperity to all those who make it their religion’. It goes without saying that in the middle of an economic crisis, where each day brings a new batch of unemployed people and social outcasts, this text is a provocation that ignores worsening social inequalities and environmental issues. I refuse to accept this headlong flight into free trade, without rules and without morals. Trade is not simply a question of business and profits. It must allow for the movement of people, ideas and goods, taking each country and each population into account, and work towards building new relationships."@en1
