Created in 1975, its objectives are auditing the EU’s accounts and improving its financial management. The Court of Auditors may carry out audits of any person or organisation responsible for managing EU funds, and their conclusions are submitted in writing in the form of reports, which are sent to the Commission and the governments of the EU Member States. The Member States submit a proposal to the Council, which approves the list of members of the Court of Justice following consultation with Parliament.
