"The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) was set up in 2006 in order to provide additional assistance for workers affected by the consequences of significant changes in the structure of international trade and to assist in their reintegration into the labour market. Since 1 May 2009, the scope of the EGF has included support for workers made redundant as a direct consequence of the economic, financial and social crisis. At this time of severe financial, economic and social crisis, one of the principal consequences of which has been an increase in unemployment, the EU needs to use all the means at its disposal to respond, particularly as regards providing support for those who have lost their job. That is why I voted for this report concerning the mobilisation of EUR 3 918 850 from the EGF for Italy, with the aim of supporting the workers made redundant by 323 enterprises operating in Division 41 (‘Construction of buildings’) in the region of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol."@en1
