"Mr President, it very often happens in Europe that the people’s wishes are ignored, and we have in fact seen pressure put on Greece to give up calling a referendum. Elections have taken place in Spain, but unfortunately not in Italy.
In any case, since things change following elections – otherwise it would be pointless having them – I believe such a postponement is appropriate. Perhaps the new Spanish Government, which has emerged from free, democratic elections, will confirm the name, or maybe it will not, and that is a sign of democracy."@en1
