lpv:translated text	"Mr President, I would once again like to draw this House’s attention to the increasingly serious situation of the Turin-Lyon railway and the works being carried out in the Susa Valley. As I have often pointed out, European funds have been granted to the Italian Government, as Europe’s contribution, based on entirely false information. It has been said that the local communities have been duly consulted, but that is not true. It has also been said that the works have begun, but that is not true either. The only thing that has been done is to militarise the Susa Valley, which has recently been declared an area of strategic interest, almost as if it were a military occupation. Plenty of valley dwellers have presented a good many petitions calling on the European Parliament to stop trusting the information from the Commission and the Council, because they have been aiding and abetting the Italian Government in this whole manoeuvre. The local population quite rightly does not want this railway line for a variety of reasons, which have been set out in extremely important expert studies. Parliament should now send a fact-finding committee to the Susa Valley to examine the situation as it really is."@en1
