"I welcome this resolution. Above all, I believe that the Single Market Forum should be organised regularly. Only in this way will businesses, citizens and local and regional authorities be able to directly participate in the further activities of the single market and be active participants in its development. It should be borne in mind that the single market has brought huge benefits to Europeans. It has created prosperity and jobs. However, many citizens, consumers and SMEs still do not have enough information and knowledge concerning their rights and opportunities in the single market. Consequently, I believe that the Commission must draw up and adopt a charter of citizens’ rights setting out citizens’ rights and obligations in the single market. This charter would be addressed to all citizens moving, working, buying and selling at cross-border level. Only once these measures have been implemented will we achieve better two-way communication and create effective means of making use of our rights."@en1
