In recent years, Croatia has worked continuously to implement the reforms demanded by the EU in the accession negotiations and to thereby meet all the accession criteria. In addition, there can be no doubt that Croatia is part of the European cultural community characterised by a Christian tradition, so that integration in the European Union would seem to be desirable. It should also be emphasised that, unlike Turkey, Croatia has always pushed forward with the promised reforms. This would indicate that the inclusion of the people of Croatia will give the EU another Member State it can rely upon at European level. The accession of Croatia is also an important step towards the integration of the countries of the Western Balkans. For these reasons, I have voted in favour of Croatia’s accession."@en1
