"The economies of the US and the EU represent half of the global economy and are closely linked. Moreover, the two areas have strong cultural ties. These two considerations should form the basis for the EU’s approach to the next EU-US Summit, which will take place on 28 November 2011, and which is expected to promote the strengthening of ties between the EU and the US, enabling both parties to continue treating each other as privileged partners in the global context. In fact, cooperation between the US and the EU contributes to strengthening their respective positions in the global economic context, which is of the utmost importance not only in the economic sphere, but also in terms of foreign aid and development policy, and of the defence of human rights. I therefore voted in favour."@en1
